Since 1963 Spinelli has been synonymous of logistics, thanks to its wide-reaching and spread-out presence throughout the national port terminals and intermodal centers.

The business units of the Group offer integrated services that meet the needs of the entire logistics chain: port terminals, intermodal transport, truck, warehousing, storage areas, repair, container sales and customs operations.

The Group has about 700 resources and constantly renews its commitment to supporting the local community and the national systems.

TRANSPORT OF GOODS IN ITALY AND EUROPE

The historical activity of Spinelli is that of road transportation which includes the operational bases of: Genoa, Padua, Livorno, Milan (Arluno), La Spezia (Santo Stefano Magra) and Reggio Emilia (Dinazzano) and makes use of its fleet of over 600 vehicles.
The trips made by the Group every year are approximately 200,000 totalling 42 million km: traveled by trucks or trains for freight and container transport.

Spinelli has intermodal centers in northern and central Italy: Reggio Emilia, Padua and Milan. About 3,500 trains depart from there, transporting goods to the most important Italian ports - such as Genoa, Livorno and La Spezia - where other Spinelli intermodal structures are located.

In recent years, thanks to joint ventures with major international operators, the Group offers daily departures of trains to the most important ports in Northern European.

The Spinelli Group has always been particularly attentive to issues related to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

Once the container logistics chain has been completed, the Spinelli Group has furthermore diversified its business: over time the group has focused its attention towards the issue of eco-sustainability - with the clean energy production through the photovoltaic plant installed at the La Spezia intermodal center (Santo Stefano Magra).

A STORY OF GROWTH
Spinelli Group

1960-70s

It was 1963 when Commendatore Aldo Spinelli created the transport company specialized in timber transport. The company began its growth already in the early 1970s, when Commendatore Aldo Spinelli sensed that the future of logistics would be in containers and adapted the company's semi-trailers to this type of transport.

1980s

In the eighties the company, then Industrie Rebora Srl, acquired large storage areas, repair and sale of containers of approximately 7000 square meters on the hill of the Erzelli in Genoa and from Milan (Arluno) and the area was already equipped with a rail link; another great intuition of the Commendatore was to understand that the development of transport would pass through intermodality.

1990s

The Nineties were years of hard work and great development with large investments in intermodality, expansion of the truck fleet and the acquisition of warehouses (Derna Service Center) and intermodal centers in La Spezia, Livorno and Reggio Emilia. In these years the acquisition of the port quay in Sampierdarena takes place.

The thrust of this evolution has led in recent years to a specialization in the management of port docks and the creation of a sophisticated network of companies capable of responding to all the needs of logistics.

2000s

In the first decade of the new century, the Group's expansion continued with the acquisition of the Genoa Port Terminal (GPT).

Intermodal services continue to be expanded, with the acquisition of the centre in S. Stefano Magra, La Spezia and new areas also in the Reggio Emilia area.

The Group also strengthens its offer of services related to the deposit, maintenance and repair of refrigerated containers with investments in the area in Vignole Borbera (AL).

2010s

Beginning in 2010, the production activities and workforce are transferred from the Erzelli hill to the port of Genoa to promote the business development of the technology hub.

The Group acquires Consorzio Genova Distripark and the majority shares of Terminal Rinfuse Genova Srl, increasing its presence on the docks of the leading Italian port.

Expansion also continued outside Genoa, with the entry into the shareholding structure of SCT (Salerno Container Terminal), and the acquisition of areas in Vado Ligure (SV) to set up a new container depot in the Savona area.

2020s

Sustainability and energy saving are the drivers of the Group's future development and investments. The implementation of the green plan has already started and is supported by a wide-ranging and diversified programme to minimise environmental impact throughout operations, both on the docks and on land. In addition to the photovoltaic system at the La Spezia intermodal centre, which enables the production of clean energy, the use of Eni HVO sustainable fuel has been started for most of the vehicle fleet, and new Konecranes cranes have been purchased that guarantee a reduced energy impact.

This is our concrete commitment to the future of the Group and the planet.

THE SPINELLI FAMILY AND FOOTBALL

Over the years, the Spinelli family has also achieved positive results in the world of football.
The acquisition of Genoa Cricket & Football Club, which achieved brilliant results, dates back to 1985: the promotion to Serie A in 1989, fourth place in the 1990/1991 championship and the UEFA Cup semi-final in 1992. In 1999 it took over the AS Livorno Calcio srl bringing it to the promotion in Serie A in three times (2004, 2009, 2013), with the team in the top flight for six championships and with participation in the UEFA Cup until the round of 32 in the 2006/07 season. Currently the Livorno Calcio plays in the cadet series.
